Hello, I am a 35 year old woman, with a 2.5 year old child. 2 years back, in oct 2023, I discovered blood and some sticky, slimy substance in my stool, and I was very scared, having a family history of colorectal cancer. Went for the colonoscopy straight away without any delay and got the confirmation for ULCERATIVE COLITIS.
I was told that I will have to take medicine throughout my life and will have to leave just milk and eat all other things. But I was not sure about this approach as some where I knew that if the root cause is not eliminated I cannot get over this.

I took mesacol for almost 3 months and started with some abstinence and avoidance in my diet...but not very strict...!!

The mucous stopped while I was on mesacol so I was quite relaxed , but as soon as I got off the medicine, the mucous came back.

Now I was sure that I had to take some other approache.
A family friend pushed us to an Ayurvedic approach and then after some discussions and google research we narrowed down to SUSHRUTA AYURVEDIC CLINIC.

We got in touch with Dr Anuradha and started the medicine, she told us it would at least take 9 to 10 months, and we were ready for even more, coz we wanted to get rid of it permanently.

We started the medicine in March 2024, and things got better till July 2024. In July end, there was a flair-up due to unknown reasons as we were serious this time...but may be it was bound to happen.

Then from July 2024, we started a very strict diet...as told by Dr Anuradha and also started morning walks, yoga and meditation. This time we were very careful regarding everything and we kept on asking Dr Anuradha about what to eat n what not to eat every time we had a doubt. And she was kind enough to have answered all our calls and help us in every manner possible. There were issues like acid reflux, constipation and weight loss in the meanwhile and all these we discussed with the Dr and she guided us very actively and positively.

This time...the UC symptoms did not get back...And in Nov 2024, the mucous was also gone...we waited till Jan end (2025) and then consulted Dr Anuradha, when she suggested a cal protectin test in Feb 2025.

We got the test done and it was weakly positive for inflammation. This was quite a costly test around 3500/-. But we were happy that it came weakly positive. We maintained a strict diet and walks and yoga. It all helped. Not only medically but also mentally, because being mentally stable is also very important in this disease. It takes a lot of toll when u don't have much choices in food and u cannot go out very often. Then there are other ailments like common cold...fever...virals... Dental issues... periods etc for which one needs to take medicine...but with this UC medicine going on...we have to avoid certain other medications, which will affect our mental and physical peace.

Also there is always a fear of flair-up and UC getting serious in your mind so it is very crucial to maintain a healthy positive mindset.

Fortunately the symptoms did not arise till August 2025 when Dr Anuradha told us to go for colonoscopy. We waited even after that till October 2025 again. Just to be extra sure.

In October 2025, we got the colonoscopy done and the results were negative for ulcerative Colitis. The colon was healthy and clear of any issues.

It made us relaxed, but at the same time...we are again very cautious and careful. We are still on a diet... strict. Because we believe...2-4 years are nothing in a life span of 60-70 years, an age that we all plan to reach.

We are slowly adding foods to our diet as recommended by Dr Anuradha and are hoping everything stays well.

Although we never met her, We really appreciate Dr Anuradha for the help throughout and hope she will be there in the near future also.

We also plan to visit Dr saab and thank her in person quite soon..
