I visited recently and had to wait almost an hour with no one else waiting. When I needed assistance, the staff was sleeping on duty, despite ringing the bell three times for an emergency. This is unacceptable and disappointing.

Reviewing a hospital, even if it’s just the OPD (Outpatient Department), is quite a task. I am not reviewing the entire hospital, as I have only visited the OPD with my friend. Since I haven’t experienced other departments, I can’t comment on them.

Condition of the OPD Building

The OPD building is very old and not at all patient-friendly. I felt extremely bad for the patients, especially those who were very sick and had no choice but to sit on the floor, stairs, or other uncomfortable spots due to a lack of proper seating arrangements. There is no lift available for patients who need to access different floors, which is a serious issue. I saw bystanders carrying patients to different departments, which is highly inconvenient and unsafe.

The waiting area for patients is poorly maintained. Many of the chairs are broken, and instead of replacing them, they are simply left as they are. This raises concerns about the hospital’s management and whether the government is even aware of these conditions.

Overcrowding and Infrastructure Issues

The hospital is severely overcrowded. Even on a regular working day, it was extremely busy, and I can’t even imagine how much worse it would be on a Saturday. There is an urgent need for additional buildings to accommodate different departments separately, which would help in reducing congestion and improving patient care.

Positives: Parking Facility

One of the few positive aspects is the parking facility, which is well-maintained and reasonably priced. This is a relief, as parking is often a major issue in public hospitals.

Lack of Digital Payment Facilities

Another major drawback is the lack of Google Pay (GPay) or any other digital payment option within the hospital. This becomes a serious problem, especially in emergencies. I faced this issue firsthand when I needed just ₹10. I went to nearby medical shops and other stores, offering to make a GPay transaction in exchange for cash, but everyone refused, even after I explained that it was for a hospital-related need. It was disappointing and frustrating to see such a lack of empathy in such situations.

Conclusion

The hospital urgently needs improvements in infrastructure, patient facilities, and payment options. While the parking facility is a positive aspect, the overall experience in the OPD is quite disappointing. The authorities should address these issues as soon as possible to provide better healthcare services.

While I wanted to highlight these issues, I chose not to take any photos out of respect for patients' privacy. Hospitals are sensitive spaces where people are already struggling with health concerns, and capturing their difficulties without consent would be unethical. However, I strongly believe that these problems need urgent attention. Instead of visuals, I hope my words convey the gravity of the situation. Healthcare facilities should prioritize patient comfort, accessibility, and dignity. I urge the authorities to take necessary steps to improve the OPD’s infrastructure and ensure a more patient-friendly environment.

I do not have much experience with the doctors’ attitudes or professionalism, but from what I have heard, they are highly skilled and dedicated to their work. Many people have spoken positively about their expertise and the care they provide to patients.

This is one of the best government hospitals in Mizoram. Almost all kinds of patients are to be treated by the best doctors here.

This hospital is establish with a primary objective of giving the best medical care to the community / patients. The quality of care will differ according to the qualification, experiences off the doctors and nurses and other paramedical staffs and laboratory equipments and other infrastructure support.

The hospital to a large extent apart from giving best medical services to the oriole of Mizoram wants you reduce the number of patients referred to hospitals outside the states with liberal funds.
